This design started as a passion project before Dubs Hat Hub was even a thing.
Created by a real, independent artist I work closely with, this Kraken graphic was originally made for an idea called The Scally Life—a concept rooted in flat caps, tradition, and personal style. The artist absolutely nailed the execution: bold, detailed, and full of character.
Here’s the honest part.
When this piece was first created, I was still new to the world of scally caps. The cap worn by the Kraken is a newsboy/Gatsby style, not a true low-profile scally. That realization came later—and instead of forcing it or pretending otherwise, I chose to learn from it.
For a long time, I kept this artwork off the channel.
But the truth is, these cap styles are closely related, the artwork is strong, and the message still fits. Style journeys come with lessons, and this one marks the beginning of mine.
